Looking for some tasty food but can’t be bothered to leave the hotel room? Fear not! For anyone staying in one of our two Auckland Hotels, UberEATS has just made the whole ‘eat in or eat out’ debate a lot easier. If you are staying at the Fable Auckland or Greenlane Suites, you can now order some amazing food from over 70 of Auckland’s leading restaurants and get your food delivered right to the hotel. How good is that?!
Sounds handy but is it any good?
Which restaurants are involved with UberEATS?
The big question on everyone’s lips is whether or not this is just a glorified takeout. If you are wondering whether the only things you will be able to order are pizzas and burgers, then think again. In Auckland, some of the city’s leading restaurants are signed up including a few from the Metro Top 50. Whether you are looking for South American spice from Miss Clawdy or maybe a classic bagel from Best Ugly Bagels, UberEATS Auckland has a wide range of restaurants serving up all kinds of cuisine from around the world.
How does it work?
All you need to do is log on to the UberEATS website or download the App for iOS or Android. From there, select your city and you will be given a list of all the restaurants that are currently open as well as those that are closed but with details of their opening hours. You can also search by restaurants and there is a handy filter that lets you search by cuisine type (sushi, burger, Indian, healthy, Thai…the list goes on).
Once you have decided on the type of food you want and the restaurant, you will be able to browse the menu and decide what you want. The best thing about UberEATS is that the food that will be delivered is exactly the same portion as you would get if you were eating in the restaurant. Uber selects their restaurant partners very carefully and it shows. The list of restaurants in Auckland is pretty impressive and the wide range of cuisine available means there is something to suit everyone.
How much does it cost?
In terms of the food itself, you are ordering straight from the usual menu so the food will cost whatever it would normally cost you in the restaurant. At the moment, UberEATS are charging a flat rate delivery fee of just $5.99 which is pretty reasonable but this does only cover the central Auckland area. It is hoped that in time, this will be rolled out to the wider Auckland area, when it is likely they will bring in delivery charges based on your location. As UberEATS has only just kicked off in Auckland, there are also quite a few promotions going around which will give you free delivery on your first order which is pretty cool. Try using one of these codes if you fancy ordering in – ‘AUCKLANDEATS’ or ‘AUCKLAND’. These codes may now have expired but be sure to look around as they definitely want to hook in as many people as possible in the first few months.
UberEATS is the perfect solution for people who are traveling on business who may have arrived late or for those who just want to make the most of their hotel stay and have a lazy night in watching the TV. If you have tried out UberEATS, we’d love to know what you think so make sure you head over to one of our Facebook pages and let us know how it was.
