Hanmer Springs, NZ — Hanmer Springs Hotel, managed by CPG Hotels, is proud to support the Hanmer Springs Health Centre through a recent community fundraising effort that included a concert, which contributed to raising $2,000 for the purchase of two new wheelchairs for local elderly residents.
On Mother’s Day, May 12, 2024, the Cathy Irons String Quartet captivated an audience of over 100 attendees with a performance of Vivaldi’s renowned “The Four Seasons” in the hotel’s historic Ballroom. The event, which was met with a standing ovation, marked a significant moment as it was the first time a Classical Music Quartet has performed in this iconic venue.
Simon Jackson, General Manager of Hanmer Springs Hotel, expressed his pride in hosting the event: “We are thrilled to have provided a platform for such a talented group and to contribute to a cause that directly impacts our community. The acoustics in the Ballroom were superb, creating an unforgettable experience for both the performers and the audience.”
The funds raised from the concert will directly benefit the Hanmer Springs Health Centre, enabling the purchase of two new wheelchairs essential for elderly patients and disabled visitors. One wheelchair features a lightweight, foldable design for easy transport, while the other offers options for self-propelling or assisted use.
Paul Walmsley, Practice Manager of the Hanmer Springs Health Centre, conveyed his gratitude for the community’s support: “The generosity of local residents and businesses is truly inspiring. These new wheelchairs will enhance our ability to care for our elderly community members and improve their experience at the Health Centre.”
Project Manager Kev Loughlin thanked all concert attendees for their contributions, praising the Quartet for their exceptional performance: “The Cathy Irons String Quartet delivered an outstanding show, solidifying their connection with our community and significantly contributing to this fundraising initiative.”
Looking ahead, Hanmer Springs Hotel is excited to announce that NZ singer/songwriter Mel Parsons will perform in the Ballroom in early October, with additional prestigious events scheduled throughout the holiday season.
